How to set a default value for an existing column in sql table with Sql Server?

Create Table Employee(Id int,
CityBorn varchar(200)
)

insert into  Employee (Id) values(1,'CityBorn')

ALTER TABLE Employee ADD  DEFAULT N'SANDNES' FOR CityBorn;

select * from Employee

insert into  Employee (Id) values(2)
insert into  Employee (Id) values(3)
